Giraffe.gif picture by Domsmom27Hello Nice People,

I luv this giraffe.  I think he is a cutie.   I  spend way too much time on this computer.  Between Journals and Photobucket, way too much.  Before I discovered Journals, I spent time on ITunes, snagging tags,  stupid emails and whatever else.  My problem is that the computer is right here in the kitchen and I hear the little "plick" when I get an email and the "plink" when I get a new alert for a Journal.  I have been scouring over Journals and found  Robinette/Jones Family Diary.  Then I found Dribbles by Chuck Ferris.  Now this is an Older gentleman in a nursing home.  (I think he spends way to much time on the computer too cuz he had me answering his alerts all day. ) Now I am going to work on this weeks letters and see if I can make a sentence out of NDOSTM.

Other than that, it was an uneventful day.  Hubby and I went to the local diner for supper.  We just got back and he is going to watch one of his usual dumb movies on TV.  We absolutely do NOT have the same taste in Television.  I watch the Fox News channels mostly.    Most of the news today was about the tornadoes in  Missouri and the mid west.  I makes me wonder about Donna from My Country Life.  I don't think she has put in an entry today.  I hope the tornadoes did not come her way.

A few weeks ago I read in a Journal that there is a site where you can make any kind of a book.....recipes, life story, etc.....and for a price, they will put it in book form.  But for the life of me, I cannot remember which Journal it was.  If anyone can help I would be so happy and grateful.

Well, tomorrow starts a new week of work.  Up at 5and on the road at 6.  So I will be turning in soon.  I hope everyone had a nice Mothers Day.

Mothers day

winivere_EyesOfAChild.gif
                                    Hello Nice People

I wanted to make an entry to wish everyone a Happy Mothers Day tomorrow.   I think most of us have "grown" children.  And our children have little children.  So Happy Grandmoms day too.

     Today's Comic Strip

Here is  a good cartoon to represent us Grandmoms of today.

I took  the Challenge Yourself Challenge and cleaned out lots of old files from 2006 and 2007.  I made it a  point last nite:  No computer and no TV til all bills and files are organized.  I found stuff I didn't know I had.  I have a bad habit of sticking mail in a drawer until I can get to it,  and then that never happens.  Before I know it, I forget that it even came in.  So for now, that problem is solved.  Some day, I hope to have unlimited time on my hands. HAH!

It was NOT a nice day here at the Jersey Shore today.  LOTS of rain and wind.  A real soaker.  Maybe tomorrow will be better.
Again,  Happy Mothers Day to All and I will talkatchalater.

WelcometomyJournalbus.jpg picture by Domsmom27

HELLO NICE PEOPLE,

I am sitting here at my puter on a nice clean desk.  Today was a good day to really clean the house.  I had the whole day to myself and I was so looking forward to it.   Daughter and one grand went to a Phillies game.  SIL and other grand went to a car race.  Hubby and son went on a fishing tournament.  So nobody needed me today....can you imagine that.  So I cleaned and spent time on the computer and watched some TV.  I watched the Kentucky Derby.  Not that I know anything about it but it always looks like everyone is having a grand ole time.  Such a shame that a horse had to be euthanized.  Is horse racing a cruel thing to do to horses?  I always wondered about that?

There was a Philadelphia cop killed today.  That took up a lot of my day.  When you see things like that on TV, it is just so sad.  Officer Steven Liczbinski.  It came on as a "Breaking News"  at 11:30 this morning.  And now the 11 PM news is on and  the Heart of a big city is breaking.  Why do bad things happen to good people.

Oh, I want to say "Thank Ya Much" to Sugar.  She left me a comment that maybe my Journal was so wide because some of my pictures were side by side.  And she was right.  I scrolled down and found a few spots where that was true.  I cleaned them up and WaLa!!   Everything is looking neat as a pin.  LUV IT!!!

Well,  I guess its time to turn in.  Everyone have a good nite and a good day tomorrow.

Thanks to Magic Smoke

                      HELLO NICE PEOPLE,

I want to say a big THANK YOU  to Vish of Magic Smoke for cleaning up my side bar for me.  Some how, I managed to get an extra column on the left side and it was really throwing the whole Journal off kilter.  I am still too wide....well that goes for both me and my Journal, but I am happy just to be rid of that extra column.  I thought all was lost and I would have to trash it and start over.  I wonder if he (I think Vish is a he) cleans houses too.

Again, THANK YA, THANK YA, THANK YA!!!!!

Antiqueing

girlhearthis.gif picture by Domsmom27

                                    HELLO NICE PEOPLE

I went out today.  Yes even with gas at $3.55 a gallon, I WASTED some.  I have been staying really close to the house to avoid burning gas.  Just church and a little food shopping on Sundays.  AND THATS IT!!!!!!  But today Carole tempted me!  Carole is my BFF for about 40 years.  She has another friend, Barbara, who is selling her house, and Carole has been talking me into buying  her bedroom set.  I am tempted, but just don't know if its a good move.  My set is one of those old white French Provincial sets that is 40 years old.  12 years ago we painted it old rose.  Over the years, it has faded to  PINK.  So here we are two 60-year olds sleeping in a PINK bedroom set.  Barbaras set is 70 years old.  The kind with all of the intricate detail on the front and a kind of box on the top.  Really old fashioned.  I want THAT  and I want to paint it white.  But what am I gaining?  One painted set for one that we have to paint.  And we have to haul it home and get this one out of here.   And lifting and carrying is not as easy as it was a few years ago.  The ole backs don't want  to cooperate.  And then, I get attached to things.  It would break my heart to see this old set sitting out at the curb.  What to do?????SmileyIdontknow.gif image by Domsmom27

That put us in the mood for Antiqueing.  So we took a ride down to Cape May.  We browsed some antique stores and stopped for lunch.  We stopped at a place called The Grilled Cheese and Crab Cake Company.  The food was really good.   We had Crab Soup.  That had tobe a gazillion calories.  And a crab cake sandwich.  I got home just in time to find Hubby cutting the grass and fertilizing and seeding.   Of  course, I missed all that good stuff.

SmileyClueless.gif image by Domsmom27I cannot figure out why my Journal is so wide.  I even took everything out of my side bar thinking that might fix it. Smileyperturbed.gif image by Domsmom27 That didn't work.  I have that extra column about halfway down.  Whats up with that?

The Pope in America

HELLO NICE PEOPLE,

First I would like to say thanks to Sugar for some really nice "Welcome" tags for my sidebar.  She is so kind AND talented too.  I spent the weekend in front of the TV watching the Pope in America.  I am so proud of the Welcome that this country gave him.  I stuck with Fox News since Thursday when he arrived.  It was an amazing trip for the Holy Father and he was so well received.  His final words before he departed really said it all.  "God Bless America."

I know I have told everyone in J-land about my Grandson who has Apraxia and about his little brother who I feel has a hard row to hoe.  But I have never mentioned my sons son.  His name is Angelo.  His whole life is taken up with sports.  He goes from baseball to football to street hockey and now to ice hockey.

102_0558.jpg Angelo, 2007 10years old picture by Domsmom27I am also proud of Angelo because on his birthday every year,  he gives up all presents.  Instead  everyone brings supplies to take to the Ocean City Humane Society.  Big bags of dog food and cat food, Kitty Litter, paper towels,  anything that the humane Society uses.  He has done this for the last 4 or 5 years.

ANGELO, HE'S A GOOD KID!!!!!!!

Nuts

Here's my answers to the latest MEME----------->>>>>

1. You’re ordering a hot fudge sundae. Do you order it with nuts or without?  Without

2. You’re buying a jar of peanut butter: which brand do you buy most often? Creamy or crunchy?  Creamy and lowfat cuz I like it drier

3. What was the last kind of nut you remember eating?  Peanuts.  I stole some of the squirrels peanuts. (Well I bought 'em.

4. Take the quiz: What nut are you?

5. This one will do a lot to indicate where you’re from: when you hear someone refer to “boiled peanuts,” are you intrigued or grossed out?  Never had boiled peanuts.  Atlantic City is famous for Planters peanuts.

6. What is your favorite synonym for the other kind of nut, as in “a lunatic?”  A nut case!!!!!!
