HELLO NICE PEOPLE,stickguywaving-1.gif image by Domsmom27

JUST A SHORT NOTE TONITE TO SAY  THANK YA MUCH  TO JOYCE OF "MY EXTREMELY SIMPLE LIFE" FOR HELPING ME WITH ADDING GOOD STUFF TO MY SIDEBAR.  It was a beautiful day here at the Jersey Shore....a little on the chilly side but nice anyway.  We took the kids to lunch at Applebees and then into AC for a short ride.   We can only do a real short ride at the price of gas.  its 2.99 at most stations.  But when you get into AC, its 3.25.   They like to really shove it to the tourists.

I  have heard rumors of $4.00 a gallon by Summer.  And Bush just keeps fiddling.

Its Thursday Nite and Hubby plays cards at the Legion.  And I was BAD.  After he left, I went down to the store and bought (shhhh)  ice cream.   We never, or rarely have sweets in the house because he is Diabetic.  And......we are both overweight.  So its a real no-no for both of us!  Hubby has soooo much willpower.  We found out that he had diabetes in 1985, and from that day on he never touched anything with sugar again.  So far, I have dodged the ole diabetic thing.  So ice cream  tonite and thats it!  I see Glenn Beck is on CNN so I think I will turn off this little machine and go watch.

Grandkids and Getting your Mammies Grammed

HELLO NICE PEOPLE,

What a beautiful blue sky day we had today.  And it is so nice being off from work.  I usually spend my week off tearing the house apart and cleaning.  But I haven't done hardly anything this past few days.  And of course, when we are off,  the Grandkids are off also.  So we have them here everydayYesterday, I took them to the movies.  Now, for the 3 of us it was $6.50 apiece.  So that is $19.50 admission.  But thats not the craziest part.  Two large sodas and one big bag of popcorn is $17.50.    We went to see Horton Hears A Who.  Kinda cute, but I think even Anthony was a little bored.  I think I fell asleep for a little bit <lol>.

If you looked outside right now,  would you see any kids playing?  Kids do not go outside and play anymore.  I live in a nice area.  Streets, and houses right next to each other.  Its a safe area.  We have a bike path up the street where people can walk and ride bikes.  And there are adults walking and excercising. But NO kids.      Kids are in the house playing there  games on the TV or on the computer.  And then we wonder why kids are fat.  THEY DON 'T GO OUT  AND PLAY!!~!!!

Today was my daughters first Mammogram.  Now she is officially middle age.

I reminded her not too get just one done and make them chase you around to do the other one like you did when you got your ears pierced at 5 years old.

Tomorrow we will take the kids out to lunch and over to Atlantic City to pick up some important  papers.  Maybe to a store or two, and then back home.  Then one more week day and we will have the weekend free.  Maybe then I will get some work done around here.

A NICE POEM SOMEONE SENT ME

JUST CHECKING IN

> ----- A priest passing through his church
> in the middle of the day,
>
> Decided to pause by the altar
> and see who had come to pray.
>
> Just then the big door opened,
> a man came down the aisle,
>
> The priest frowned as he saw
> the man hadn't shaved in a while.
>
> His shirt was kind a shabby
> and his coat was worn and frayed,
>
> the man knelt, he bowed his head,
> Then rose and walked away.
>
> In the days that followed,
> each noon time came this chap,
>
> each time he knelt just for a moment,
> A lunch pail in his lap
>
> Well, the priest's suspicions grew,
> with robbery a main fear,
>
> He decided to stop the man and ask him,
> "What are you doing here?"
>
> The old man said, he worked down the road.
> Lunch was half an hour.
>
> Lunchtime was his prayer time,
> For finding strength and power
>
> "I stay only moments, see,
> because the factory is so far away;
>
>  as I kneel here talking to the Lord,
> This is kind   of  what I say:
>
> "I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD,
> HOW HAPPY I  have BEEN,
>
> SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP
> AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.
>
>   I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY,
> BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY.
>
> SO, JESUS, THIS IS JIM
> CHECKING IN TODAY.."
>
> The priest feeling foolish,
> told Jim, that was  just fine.
> He told the man he was welcome
> To come and pray just anytime.
>
> Time to go, Jim smiled, said "Thanks."
> He hurried to the door.
>
> The priest knelt at the altar,
> Like he had so many times before
>
> His old heart melted, warmed with love,
> and met with Jesus there.
>
> As the tears flowed, in his heart
>
> he repeated old Jim's prayer:
>
> "I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD,
> HOW HAPPY I have BEEN,
>
> SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP
> AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.
>
> I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT
> I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY.
>
> SO, JESUS, THIS IS ME CHECKING IN TODAY"
>
> Past noon one day, the priest noticed
> that old Jim hadn't come.
>
> As more days passed without Jim,
> he began to worry some.
>
> At the factory, he asked about him ,
> learning he was ill.
>
> The hospital staff was worried,
> But he'd given them a thrill.
>
> The week that Jim was with them,
> Brought changes in the ward.
>
> His smiles, a joy contagious.
> Changed people, were his reward.
>
> The head nurse couldn't understand
> why J im was so glad,
>
> when no flowers, calls or cards came,
> Not a visitor he had.
>
> The priest stayed by his bed,
> He voiced the nurse's concern:
>
> No friends came to show they cared.
> He had nowhere to turn.
>
> Looking surprised, old Jim spoke
> up and with a winsome smile;
>
> "the nurse is wrong, she couldn't know,
> that in here all the while
>
> everyday at noon He's here,
> a dear friend of mine, you see,
>
> He sits right down, takes my hand,
> Leans over and says to me:
>
> "I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, JIM,

The Election

Hello Nice People,

We had a nice, relaxing Easter.  Mass this morning and then we stopped for breakfast at the local diner.  Hubby,  thats him over there on the couch---->, he likes breakfast out.  Me,  I would just as well go home and have my coffee and watch the Sunday news shows.  I am a political junkie.  I love this election stuff.  Too bad we don't have it all the time.  When it is all over, I am ready to start into it again.  Now Hubby,  he has the Sci-fi channel on.  When he gets up,  I put on Fox News.  Then he  comes back  and puts that stupid Sci-fi on again.  Good thing we have more than one televison.

Now as for elections,  I think they are handled all wrong.  Candidates lie, accuse, exagerate, cover up, pander and get caught.  Then they wiggle out and everybody soon forgets.

Here's the way I think elections should be handled.  Candidates should have to take a test.  They should be tested on

#1    The Economy

#2    World Leaders

#3    Foreign Affairs

#4    World Geography

#5    Foreign Languages

#6    World History

#7    American History

Now, aren't you sorry you asked.  Oh, sorry, nobody did.

Uh-oh!  Well, Hubby gave up playing cards on the puter for Lent.  I have had free use of  my little machine for 40 days.  Guess what today is?    The end of Lent.    Maybe he'll  forget.  Not a chance!!

Have a nice evening everyone.

The Dreaded RED X

HELLO nice people,

I am sooo mad.  I spent so much time last night adding an entry to my journal and when I saved it,  all the pictures were blank squares with red X's.  I have been having the red X problem for a few days and have tried to get rid of it.

The directions that I am using say to go to Internet Explorer.  Click on TOOLS.  Click on Internet  Options.  Click on Advanced tab.  Look for aMulti Media section and make sure that "show pictures" is checked.  I still got the Red X.  And it was a good entry too <lol>

And here's another thing that ruined my day.  Would you believe that the little Grandsons CCD teacher told him and the rest of the  class that there is no Easter Bunny.  That it is just made up so that the stores have more business.  GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!   Daughter and I just had this conversation last week that this is probably the last year that  he will  look for the Easter Bunny.

Happy Easter everyone.

Just Parked the ole shool bus

Hello nice people.  I was looking for a cute graphic to put here and found this picture of Mother Theresa that I had saved.  I put it in cuz she looks so happy.  Like someone just told her a funny story.   Maybe she was reading someones Journal.  I just finished work for today.  Parked the ole school  bus for a whole week.  We don't go back to school til the 31st of March.  With Easter being so early this year, we have a long haul til the next day off.But thats all good cuz before you know it it will be summer.  Of course,   we have 2 of the Grandkids all next week.  That gets to be old news but I never let on to my daughter.  She feels guilty enough as it is.

This is Nick and Antny.   They are a few years older now.  I was reading on Joyce's Journal.....My extremely Simple Life.....about the good book she is reading.  Here is what I just ordered from Amazon.com

The Cornbread GospelsCornbread Gospels by Crescent Dragonwagon.  How do you like that name.  So I guess I will be trying some cornbreads this weekend.

Have a good evening and Talkatchalater!

I don't have to go to work today

Good Mornin'......!   I DON'T HAVE TO GO TO WORK TODAY!  And what a good feeling that is.  Would it be nice not to have to work every day?  I don't know  sometimes it seems like it would.  How great would it be to be able to do what ever you want every day?  Instead of your life being ruled by someone else.  But then they say, "Oh don't retire, cause then you die!!!  But a day off now and then is really appreciated.  I want to jam everything into these next few hours.  But I do have to go to a funeral this morning and here I sit on the puter.  A neighbor passed away and he is also my sons Grampop in-law (is that a word?).

So lets see, how do I plan my day.

#l     Get off of this puter

#2    Put a ham in the oven for son to take over to the family

#3    Go to funeral and then Mass in Atlantic City at St Mike's

#4    Stop at Joans (retired girlfriend) and we'll go out for lunch

This is my friend JOAN

#5    Stop at Circuit City and buy a new electronic thingy thay I have been wanting.   (Or maybe not).

#6  Stop by Carole's to see her new floors.

#7   Pick up something for supper

#8   Back Home

Whew!!!!!!!    What a day.   Well, I am off..................

Have We Sunk to a "New" low?

HELLO nice people,

I am up and on the puter at 5:00 in the morning.  I am an early riser on Saturday.  I guess when you get up early during the week, its hard to break the habit.  You know those headline stories that are on AOL desktop when you sign on.......I usually skim over them and click on something that looks interesting.  Now I am no saint.  I think "prude"  is the word that should go there but that seems so overused.  And I have, in my 63 years, said some of the minor 4-letter words that are out there in the english language.  BUT, and here's the big BUT....have we come to the point in time in this country that such rough talk is commomplace on public reading material.

Here's my gripe:   On this mornings AOL headline, "Driving Laws We Want."  here are some lines that I picked out:

1.Douche-bag moves, whether by intent or ignorance, shouldn't spoil driving for the rest of us.

2. You can't polish a turd

3.start with the restriction of belching and farting in public.

4.her adventures in skankdom

5.Calvin pissing on something is funny, we just pity you.

6.WTF!?

Hmmmmmm, Am I being too picky or is this world just sinking so low that we will never pull ourselves out?

Yep,  I was out shopping, stopped to get my nails done.  I was supposed to stop at my friend Caroles house to see her new hardwood floors.  She wasn't home.  So I may as well head for home and call her later.  So,...... Hubby didn't expect me so soon.  Surprise!!! Caught in the act!  Thats right, I caught him sleeping with another woman.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------So, this is what goes on when I'm not home!!!!!!!!

The Price of living today

HELLO nice people,

It has been a rainy, dreary day.  I went food shopping early this morning and got back just before a downpour.  The rest of the day, I have pretty much spent on this computer.  And I really enjoyed it.  Hubby gave up the puter for Lent.  The only thing he does is play cards on the disk.  He doesn't have a clue how to get on the internet.  So I have had my computer pretty much to myself.

I have been trying to put some pictures in here but it keeps coming up "Your File Could Not Be Uploaded."  What the h--- does that mean?    Well like Gilda Radnor said, "It's always something."

Food Shopping........I spent $269.00.  Has anyone else noticed how prices have risen.  It is completely nuts.  $4.29 for 18 eggs.  $3.59 for a loaf of bread.  A gallon of gas is now OVER  $3.00.  At this rate, we should drink it.  It is getting really scary.  And there is only two of us here.  I feel bad for the families who have kids.  We all know how fast kids can go through food.   And no-one complains.  It seems that 20 or 25 years ago people would be sceaming about the prices.  But people today seem to lay back and accept whatever is thrown at them.

Still can't upload any pictures or cute graphics.  So I will have to say "Good Nite."

Back From Disneyworld

It is a Rainy, miserable night.  they are calling for possible flooding in some parts of  New Jersey. I guess its a stay at home Saturday, tomorrow.

Melody and  family are back from  Disneyworld.  It was a safe and enjoyable trip.  We were just discussing Nick, he is our handicapped one.  I hate that word, but there is really no other one to use.   It seems that he was on a mission to see all the Disney characters and especially Mickey Mouse.  We have figured it out that to him, Disneyworld is a town where they all live.  He does not draw a line between fantasy and the real world.  When they DID get to Mickeys house, it seems that the kitchen was in disarray because Goofy left it that way.  And Nick found this upsetting that someone would do this to Mickey.

Mom you should have seen him.  I don't know everything he was thinking but he was so in awe with everything, even the plane, but he does it so quietly.  He doesn't jump around like a little kid he just takes it all in.  He didn't want to do anything that was in the dark like a lot of the rides but he did anything else we asked.  He just walked and walked because he wanted to see what was next.  His Teacher says he will eventually grow out of it like we all do.  I think that is more of a shame than believing in things when you are too old.>Anyway, it was nice to see it through his eyes and see him
>enjoy it.  His nine year old brother was more into the
>roller coasters and other rides, which was great too!
>

The above was in an email that Mel sent me.  Sometime she can explain things better than I can.

Don't UnderEstimate the Predictions of a Little Dog

Anybody believe dogs can predict the future?  My little doggie Gloriebelle,

has been acting very strange since Sunday night.  She stopped eating, which is her favorite pastime.  She insisted on hiding as far back in the closet as she could get.  She was so nervous that she shook and vibrated like a little jackhammer.  What the heck could be wrong with  her.  I checked all her legs to be sure nothing was broke or swollen.  I even watched her when she pp'd to see if there was any blood in it.  Something physical?  Doesn't seem to be.  Now this went on from Sunday night into Monday and  Tuesday.  Last night we had lots of rain and a thunderstorm. The lightening and thunder lasted for about one half hour.  I heard it in my sleep and thought "I should get up and console the little doggie.

Well, when I got up this morning at 5 AM to get ready for work.....storm over, and Gloriebelle sitting on her spot on the couch, good as new.

I think she knew a storm was coming way back on Sunday night.  Or she is paying more attention to the Weather Channel than I knew.

A New Puter Screen

Shoot...I started this entry Sunday and I gave up.  I wanted to put in some pictures but do you think I could find them.  Mel and Hubby and the kids are in Disneyworld. They left Sunday and will be back on Thursday.  This is really a BIG deal. It  is  just so xpensive to do a trip like this.  She has been saving for it and her Dad-in-law and we helped.  I talked to her yesterday and she said "Mom,what did we do to deserve this?  I told her to have a good time and spend ALL the money. This is Mel when we left them off at the Airport.  I hope she remembered to tip this baggage handler.  Why do I worry about every thing.

Here is my new computer screen.  I have been wanting one of the bigger ones and they were on sale at Target on Sunday.

This is so nice.  I luv it!!!!!!  I don't have a lot of room here.  My computer is in the kitchen on a little desktop that we had built into the end of the cabinets years ago.  So when we got the puter, it was perfect spot.....and the only spot.  So guess where the tower is.......down with the pots and pans, where else!

The next thing I want is new speakers.  The newer ones are smaller.  I want a bigger monitor and littler speakers, go figure.
