My Cell Phone Swap

                         Hello Nice People,

Today has been a "Lazy" sort of day.  In fact most of this week has been the "Lazy" sort.  Have been tired most of the week.  But I have to get my ducks in a row and get my ---- together and wake up and smell the coffee and whatever else will get me moving.

CELL PHONES   I think I made a pretty good swap today.  My cell phone plan allows for 4 or 5 phones, so there is me and hubby (thats him over there      on the couch----------> .  And I have daughter and  son in law on my plan.   We all have the basic phones, no cameras (cameras and phones? somehow they just don't seem to go together)  No texting, no speakers, no bluetooth....just plain old phones.  And I was quite proud that I did not yet fall prey for all that modern mish mashy stuff.  Well SIL was the first of the four to break his phone.  So since the plan  is in my name, only I could go to Verizon to get him a new phone.   I put it off for a week.  Cuz I know that when I step into VerizonWorld, they will automaticaly up my contract for another 2 years.  I think if you go in there just to use the bathroom, they will re-up your contract for another 2 years.  So here I go,  stubborn and stoic that they are NOT going to sell me one of those dern fancy, new fangled cell phones.  And I told him right out,  "I want to go the cheapest way possible."  "OK" he said, "but we don't have these plain little jobbers anymore.  But we do have this little silver one that is only a few dollars more and is perfect for a man."  Hmmmm,  that one over there sure is a pretty color.  "Well, thats our new grape color."    Now what would Shane want with a grape cell phone."  That little plain silver one would be  suitable for a man so I should go with that one.  "Uhhh,  what's the price on that grape one?  It sure is pretty."  "Well the grape one takes pictures, texts,  has a clock,  tells the day of the week, has an alarm, voicemail, email, feeds the dog and clips your toenails.  It sure is pretty......but what would a man want with a grape cell phone?"  Of  course it would be perfect for ME!!   salesman---> "Well, I could take your phone and put his phone number in it.  Then take this cute little grape number and put your number in it and you would both be happy. I will even take all of your contact numbers out of your phone and put them into the new phone." Hmmmm, this salesman is just so accomodating and such a nice guy.  SOLD, and I am now the owner of a pretty little purple telephone.  Shane?  Oh Shane!,  he got a phone too.  My old phone.  And he is perfectly happy.  And Verizon thinks they put one over on me HAH!!

Antny is an Alter Boy

                       Hello Nice People,

Today is my second day off from work.  The weather has been beautiful.  Today I went to a memorial service for someone I  never met.  Wayna was an elderly lady who was a friend of my girlfriend Carole.  Wayna passed away a few weeks ago.  She requested that her body be donated to science.  So today there was just a small memorial service for her.  I went because I know Carole would go for me.

I have been extremely tired.  I am always tired.  Sometimes I feel like a zombie and I just keep pushing myself.  since I started my Journal, I have never mentioned my health or how I feel.  I think it is these darn presciptions that make me tired.  And everytime I go to the doctor, she adds another prescription.  Here are the prescriptions that I am on:   Nexium, Hyoscymine, Detrol La,  Vytorin,  Clonidine, Furosemide, Atenolol, Ramipril, Digoxin, Spironolactone, Terazosine.  And if you look them up, everyone says "May cause fatigue."  Well Yeh!!!!!  I never tell ANYONE how tired I am because I don't think people want to hear it.   I know that my blood pressure would go down if I would lose some of the weight but we all know how that goes.  Someday, I am going to flush  them all.

Sunday was Grandson Anthonys first day as an alter boy.  He was so excited he said he couldn't get to sleep.

Hi Mom Mom, how do you like my Cassock?

Do you think it will fit?

Here I am ready to go.

Am I an angel or what??

Visiting priest from Nigeria

Hello Nice People,

I just love Calvin and Hobbes.  I hope everyone enjoys this one:

Thanx Mr Watterson.

First Day of Summer

                          Hello Nice People,

OMG!!!! It is 7:45 and Summer is HERE!!!!!  The one thing that I absolutley hate about the first day of Summer is now the days start to get shorter.  I can feel it already.  Its getting dark earlier. NO!!!!!!   I hate when that happens.  But the good thing about today is  SCHOOL IS OUT!!!!   I took my bus back  and it is so nice to have that extra space in the driveway.  Hubby is going on a fishing tournament tomorrow at 5 AM.....so.....I have the whole day to myself.  I'm gonna clean the house and watch the food channel.  Life is good.

Tomorrow, Saturday, is the first day of CONDO CLEANING.  Lots of girls in this area clean condos in Ocean City on Saturdays during the summer.  Its a common site to see the groups of  ladies going from condominium to condominium with their buckets and brooms and vacuums on Saturdays.  And  daughter Melody is one of them.  I  know she didn't want to do it this summer but the money is too good to pass up.  Tenants that rent for the week or 2 week period have to be out by 8 AM and the next tenants arrive with all of their parafernalia at 12 Noon no earlier.  So the places have to be spotless by 12.  Most girls go in groups of 4 or 5 and  hustle their rears from one condo to the next and the next til they get all of them done.  They are paid by the Real Estate Agent.  Its hard work!  Some people leave them a total disaster and others actually clean before they leave.  Melody says you open the door real slow and look in and pray that its not too bad.  You would be surprised at what some people can do to someone elses property.

Sunday is a special day.  Grandson Anthony is a brand new alter boy and he is serving Mass for the first time on Sunday.  So you know I will be there with my camera.  I think we may take the family out to breakfast after just to celebrate.    Everyone have a good weekend and I will talkatchalater.

Just another Saturday

                                     Hello Nice  People,

It is a beautiful Saturday here at the Jersey Shore.  However, when I went out this morning the heavy smell of smoke is in the air.  I had to  pick up Grandson Nick at the handicap riding stables and it was thicker there yet.  I don't know what it is.  There must a forest fire somewhere.  Antny, the little guy was here when I got back.  He rode his bike over from home.  As soon as I looked at him I could tell the smoke was affecting his asthma.  He knows more about it than I do.  Mom mom, I think I'll go home and use my nebulizer cause I am having a hard time breathing.  At nine, he is pretty self sufficient.

Poor hubby.....I decided we should buy a decent outdoor grill.

Commercial Series w/Quantum Infrared GratesI get these ideas and then  he is the one who has to put the darn thing together.   Why don't they come with at least some of it put together.  The whole big box was nothing but bolts and sheet metal.  He has been working on it since early this morning.  And he is the type that  has to go exactly by the directions.  God forbid there is an extra screw left over.

I don't think there will be any hamburgers on the grill tonite.

On another note,  yesterday was Graduation day at Special Services School.  I spent the whole hour an a half with tears running down my face.  And I don't even have anyone graduating.  Except of course my bus kids.  You really can get attached to these kids when you spend 3 or 4 hours a day with them.  I think I know more about them than their own parents know.

Well, time to go move some furniture off the deck so we can fit this grill out there.  Uh oh!  hold your ears cuz now he can't find the handle screws.

                                                  Talkatchalater,

Marlene

congratsgrad00c1.gif

             Hello nice people,

Look at me, home from work and on the computer at 3:00  I had kind of a short day today.  I took the kids on my bus from the casinos over to school to practice for Graduation.    Friday will be a sad day for me.  Five of my kids will be graduating.  I have had these kids since they were 6 or 7 years old and now they are graduating and going into the working world.

I have watched these kids grow up and never had a bad word out of them.  Well maybe when they were 6 or 7.   Hmmmmmm, I wonder what next year will bring.

Whewwww

Hello Nice People,

                        Enjoy!!!!!!

Sunday, June 8, 2008

Hello Nice People,

It is a stinker outside today.  This is the first HOT weekend and the shoobies are here.  Shoobies are the locals name for the tourists.  I think we are going to get bombarded with shoobies this summer because people are not going to be taking the long vacations due to the price of  gas.  Yesteray we went to see the Moving Viet Nam Wall in the next town.  Opening ceremonies were Friday and closing will be Monday at 4:00.  We spent an hour or more looking at the names of the dead.  They are 58,249 names of soldiers killed in the Viet Nam War.  It is just too hard to fathom.

This is the East half.  Each half is 126.5 feet long made of aluminum panels with the names silk screened on them

There were Viet Nam vets there who just love to talk about the war.  Of course they are about our age because we were teenagers during the war.

This is Al Becker telling us about his tours of duty.  I think Antny learned a lot.

Al and Sal

Johnson A Steidler,  was a cousin who would be my age right now.  He was killed 3 weeks after Sal and I were Married.

58,249 names!!!!!!!!    58,249  boys!!!!!!    58,249 men!!!!!!!

A Hot Summer Day (finally)

Hello Nice People,

We are having a hot one today.  Actually, it's the first really HOT day.  This is the first that we have had the AC running. I really hate that darn AC.  You have to keep  all the windows and doors closed up tight, and you lose the whole "summer" feel.  But then on the other hand,  we can't go to bed anymore with windows open because of break-ins.  We are in a really nice area.  We have three little towns between Atlantic City and Ocean City.  Northfield, Linwood and Somers Point.  But somehow,  the burglers still find us.

I took a few pictures the other nite on Mels birthday and they came out pretty good.

This is Me and Melody.  Now she knows what she will look like in 23 years.

One of the gifts that I got her was a gift card to a SPA.  I didn't even know what they do in a Spa, but I went in and asked.  they do facials and massages and pedicures and I don't remember what else.  Melody said the facial sounds good but the massage,  hmmmm, does that mean someone is going to "touch" me?  I would be a little creeped out by that too.  She said she would besooo happy if she could just go in and close the door and lay on the table for an hour.  The spa thingie was $125.00.  Oooo, thats a lot of money but......what the Hell.

Well, hubby started out this morning to scrub the deck.  He does this every year.  Is this necessary?  I never see anyone else scrubbing the deck.  He didn't get very far, just dragged out all the parafernalia.  After coming in for some lunch he decided to just cut the grass for today.  Its just not as easy as it used to be keeping the yard looking nice.  We are getting old.

He takes care of the yard totally.  I do very little.  I do feel guilty about it but the ole back just doesn't cooperate anymore.   He says I come up with all these ideas and say "WE" are going do do this or that. "What do you have a mouse in your pocket?"

The city of Somers Point has the smaller version of the Viet Nam Wall on display this weekend.  Melody just called and said her house is clean , one son went to the car races with his Dad,so lets go see it.  So I think I will get cleaned up, do something with my hair and  thats what we will do.  Everyone have a realllly nice weekend, and I will talkatchalater.

Here's a good site that you might enjoy.  I know I did.
