Thanksgiving and I'm staying up late.

 100_1902

Hello Nice People,

Oh no!!!, I feel so bad.  I haven't  posted an entry for 2 weeks, and I check in here and find 15 comments to my last post.  AND three Marie Antoinette Awards.  Thank you Karen, Joyce and  Skip and  Vick; I don't know what to say.  Wow, this is almost as good as my  Chicken Chronicles  award from Kelly.  I feel like Sally Field when she said,   "You like me,  you really like me."

I tried to get back sooner but something always came up in the past few weeks.  A wedding shower and then last Saturday, we had  the wedding to go to.   That, along with work, I feel like I haven't had a moment to breathe.  But tonite, here I am.  And you have my undivided attention.  It is 11:30 PM and I have a turkey in the oven that has to come out at 1 AM.  So I will be propping my eyes open for the next hour and a half.  Of course Hubby just went to bed.  Somehow, men have the best of all worlds.  Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.  I will be up early.  It's crazy.  On work days, I drag myself out of bed and off to work.  but on days off, I am up at 5 AM.  Ready to face a new day.  I love the early mornings when I don't have to work.  I enjoy my coffee and the morning paper with Fox and Friends on the TV.  Its the BESTEST time of the day.

100_1900 Its been a cold end of November, and of course hubby has been working on his wood pile.

100_1901 If he's not stacking wood, he's raking leaves.

100_1914 There's  an orange cat somewhere in those leaves.  Thats Sherwin Williams.

100_1903 He sleeps on top of an expensive doll in an antique doll coach.  Why NOT!?

The turkey temperature is 170 degrees.  10 more degrees and I can go to bed.  What can I talk about?  The wedding?   Hmmmm......well it was a beautiful wedding.  I counted 18 tables of 12.  Wow thats a lot of people.  The Groom was my brothers grandson.  And I hadn't seen my brothers SON for many many many years.  It was just one of those things where you lose touch.   One day, I just picked up the phone and said lets get together.   That was about 5 or 6 years ago, and now we DO keep in touch.  I visited one of my brothers sons in Virginia and he and his family came here.   His brother here in Jersey invited us to his sons wedding.   The bride and groom were so friendly and kind.    He sure has raised nice kids, and I am sorry I missed them growing up. But he's probably wondering, "Where did this Aunt come from?"

                The turkey is 175 degrees.

100_1907 Here is daughter Melody and my Grandson Nick.  When did he get so  tall?

100_1910 Nick is the happiest kid.  He never has a bad day.  Nick has a handicap,  Apraxia of Speech.  Even though he is very hard to understand, he gets his point across.  Yippee, the turkey is 180 degrees.  Gonna put that stinker out in the enclosed porch and I am outta here.

                                                       Nite All,

Its finally Over.

 Hello Nice People,

Poor Sara.  I wonder what she is doing now.   Someone went up to Alaska and drug her down here to the lower 48.  Dressed her up in Fancy duds, told her what to say and tried to convince us that she was Presidential material.  Now those same people are tearing her down, smearing her character and making her the butt of more jokes.  All I can think is she didn't ask for any of this. What was the point?

The idea that a woman of such limited experience should suddenly emerge on the national stage and be a heartbeat away from the presidency without a thorough vetting process is very scary.

And being a Republican, I stuck by McCain all the while wondering if I was being stupid.   This election is finally behind us and it is what it is.  I hope the good Lord looks down on us and Mr Obama and gives him all the help that  he will surely need.

I have found so many interesting blogs since we moved over from Jland.  The more time I spend moving from one to another, the more I want to be a follower.  I have to rein  myself in from clicking on "Follow This Blog"  on almost everyone I read.  I have to find the time to stay with the originals, let alone join too many others.  But they are just so tempting.   From Cluckin a Critter Farm,  I found Tennessee Grandaddy.  I seem to lean toward the ones that are Country or Farm  or Animals, like Kelly and her chickens.  Does that say anything about me?  Maybe I was a farmer in a former life.  Or maybe a cow???

This is the third day of a four day weekend.  Thursday and Friday were the two New Jersey Teachers Convention days.  So all public schools are closed.  Last year it was a five day weekend that included Monday as Veterans Day.   But they discovered that when the teachers have five days off, they  go to Florida.  So this year, we are back to school on Monday, and then have Tuesday  off for Veterans Day.  And it has rained  since Wednesday.

The little clock in the corner says 9:37 PM.  Time to call it a night.  Everyone stay well, and I will  Talkatchalater.

I've been up since 4:30 this morning. Had 2 CPR and First Aid classes. Took a test for each. Drove 182 miles. Took the Grandkids to Mcdonalds. Ran to church for the Rosary. I am tired and I have nothing to say. So I copied this from an Email.

Hello Nice People,

This made me laugh out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Menopause Question Ever

Q:
How many women with MENOPAUSE does it take to change a light
bulb?

Woman'sAnswer:
One!
ONLY ONE!!!! And do you know WHY? because  no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb!
They
don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT!! They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out.
And,once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the #&%!* lightbulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CABINET for the past 17 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle of God, actually find them, 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!!!!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER
THE FREAKING LIGHT BULBS CAME IN!!! BECAUSE NO ONE EVER
PICKS UP OR CARRIES
OUT THE GARBAGE!!!! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED
FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE THAT

ARE A FOOT DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE!!
IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS PLACE! AND
DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON WHO CHANGES

THE TOILET PAPER ROLL !!

I'm sorry.

What was the question?

It gets dark early now. I hate when that happens.

 Hello nice People,

We set the clocks back last night.  Does everyone do that?  I'll have to check that out.  Now, its 4:30 and getting dark.  I hate when that happens.  Go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.  I have a long day tomorrow.  I have to give up my mid-day run to go to  CPR and First Aid class.  And then Tuesday is Election day.  Finally!!!!!!  The polls already have the answer, and so many states have voted already.  When did that start?

As I type this,  I am watching an Eagles game on TV.  They're playing in Seattle.  And that just brought to mind Linda from Washington.  She was on vacation when the news hit about losing our Journals on AOL.  I have not come across a new blog/journal of hers.  If anyone has,  give me the link.  I would hate to lose track of her.  I was glad to see that Pioneer Woman was not deleted.  She has some good recipes.

Hubby is getting ready for winter.  His wood pile is organized and ready to go.  It looks so good,  I kind of hate to use it.

Sal cuts and splits all by himself.  Its a lot of work but he enjoys it.   He knows every piece personally.  "Oh this piece came from so and so's tree."

100_1888

He stacks it on this rack on the back deck.  This was an old soda rack from a store  that he came across years ago.  It gets used for more things.  I hang clothes on hangers on it to dry in the summer.  Its been a dolly to carry things from the front of the house.  The neighbors have even used it for transporting things.  Sometimes we have  to look for it.

Here is our  Franklin Stove.  We put this in about 35 years ago.  It has kept us warm all those years.  Of course we have regular heat also.  Well, its time to get some supper moving.  Everyone have a good week and I will talkatchalater.

Bless Me Father For I Have Sinned

db3abd489570bab366d694a195daa_3701

Hello Nice People,

WHAT is that Picture up there?  Well,  I was looking for a way to make a signature that I can use on all of my entrys,  and I came across this site where you can put your face on a magazine cover.  Now, that picture was taken back in  June, and I have a confession to make.  Since August 4th,  I have lost 35 pounds.   Hubby has lost 40.  Don't they always lose faster?!.  We both  really put on excessive pounds,  way over what we usually weigh.  Too much good living and  too much EATING OUT.  And, one of my problems is... too many recipes on the internet.  I find myself going through food sites and saying "Oooo,  I can make THAT, and I can make THAT.  And then one day "Uh oh, how did we get this fat?  Now don't get me wrong,  we have always been overweight.   And we both have lost it before.  1985,  Hubby lost 90 pounds.  Of course it slooowly came back.  I have lost 60 pounds more than once.  Hopefully, after a lifetime of  losing and gaining we have learned  our lessons.  There IS one drawback with losing weight at this age though.  You get wrinkles, boo hoo.  Yeh, people always said, " Geez Marlene, you don't have any wrinkles". Well thats because I am/was  FAAT!!   And the wrinkles are stretched out (LOL).   And here is another little tidbit........OK, here it goes......I was a 13 pound baby.  How would you like to admit that?  And how would you like to be my Mother?  Ohhh, she WAS a tough old bird.  But that was always one of my  excuses "Well I was a 13 pound baby!!!"  or "I have big bones."  NOT!!!!  When I lost weight before, I was stunned to learn that my bones are the same as everyone elses.       I feel like I should have started this entry with "Bless me Father for I have sinned."  (Its a Catholic thing LOL)   In other words, I have just told the world that #1  I am fat.......#2   We eat out too much....#3   I am getting wrinkles etc, etc,  etc.

                                             Everyone have a good night.

A Rainy, Quiet Saturday

Gods smile

Hello Nice People,

Today  is a kind of  off and on rainy day.  I decided not to even go out today.  Just stay at home and  spend some time on my computer.  I was up at 5:30......coffee and  the morning paper and a little of Fox and Friends.  And since,  I have done  very little around here.  I have been reading lots of blogs that I usually don't have time to get to.  I added some books to my bookshelf in the sidebar and I checked out some low carb recipes on Youtube.

Sugar had a good suggestion to change the  Comments section without going to a new screen.  Go to Settings, Comments, Comment Placement, and click on the last box:  Embed Comments below post and click on Save.  Also, as I was perusing around, I found  a screen that says "Let Search Engines Find Your Blog."  In this section there were many many sexual blogs.  And I don't want mine listed in there!  So, under Setting, Basic, I checked "NO" in Let Search Engines Find Your Blog.  Also,  I don't want the whole crazy world reading my blog.  Just a few crazies that are already here.

I have a few more pictures that I took last Sunday:

A few pictures of  Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

This is the Monument at the entrance to AC.  the statue inside is called Victory in Distress.

100_1880

I grew up in Atlantic City and this is my little house.   My Ma and Pa and myself, we lived here since I was 12 years old.   When I was younger,  my mother and I would pass this house and she would say "I would love to have that  little house."  Then one day back in 1957, a For Rent sign went up and the next thing I knew we were moving in.     My Mother loved it.  She finally had a yard where she planted flowers and a little garden.  We had the biggest Weeping Willow tree in the area.  But I hated it.  It was so small.  Some people refer to it as a "Shotgun house."  I think thats because it is straight through and you have to go through each room to get to another.  But I still have it.  We rent it out.  Currently to a young'un who seems to enjoy the little yard also.   He is a 23 year old,  college drop out.  He keeps it clean and nice and seems very happy.

100_1879

My mother died in 1982 at 76 years old.  My Poor ole Pa, he lived there another 13 years.   This time of the year takes me back to when I  would come in to see if he needed anything and there was Pa laying on his couch with the Atlantic City breeze blowing the curtains and the sound of a  Phillies baseball game on the TV.

 100_1882

Soon after my Pa died,  my son moved in to keep it occupied so that no one would break in.  After that, it has only been empty for a few short weeks.  There was only one opportunity for me to go in with no one there.  About 7 years ago....and the only thing left in an empty house was  one of my Ma's kitchen chairs.  So I sat down and cried.  All by myself.  Today,  I don't have too many emotional ties to it.  Some day we will probably put a For Sale sign on it.    The Ad would probably say:  "Little tiny house in Atlantic City.  A great view of the Casinos across the marshes.  Within walking distance to the boardwalk and the beach.  Owned by the same little old lady since 1957."

Everyone here in Googletown have a good weekend.

FRIDAY, TGIF

 Friday

Hello Nice People

Well, I downloaded Live Writer.  Lets hope it works and I get a better looking entry.  Thanx Missie for your suggestion.  ANDDDDDD, its Friday!  Thank ya Lord.  For getting through another week safe and sound.  I always say "Thank You"  for a safe week on the  roads.  It gets more difficult as time goes on.  The traffic has increased 500% around here in the last 10 years.  Sometimes it is  just nuts.

Bad news today!  My son got layed off from his job.  I had a feeling it was coming.  He is (was) Corporate Chef and Sales for a pork company in Smithfield Virginia.  With todays economy in the state that its in,  I think his type of job is the first to go.  He will always make out though.  But I worry about him losing his benefits.  I hope this ole country will get back on its feet soon.

I want to put some pictures in here that I didn't finish on my last entry.

 100_1849

This is Melody and Nick.  Who knew it would be this cold?

100_1851

100_1854

100_1853

100_1855
