What Keeps Me Going

Hello Nice People,

There they are.  Who woulda thunk!  I just hope its not a death-nell for McCain.  What a risk to take.  I was hoping for Huckabee or Lindsay Graham or Kay Bailey Hutchinson from Texas.  Time will tell.  They have a lot of work ahead of them.

I did not have the computer on for 2 or 3 days.  When I turned on this afternoon, I had 280 Emails.  Mostly Journals.  We had a busy few days.  My BFF and Neice were visiting Ocean city for the week.  So after they got the beach and boardwalk out of their system,  we spent some time together.  We went out to eat a few times.  Thursday, we went to Oyster Creek Inn for a good seafood dinner.  Of course hubby and I are on a low carb diet....so no fried food, no potatoes or dessert.  And hubby is not one for going off once he gets started. Wahhhhh!  Yesterday, we took a ride to Cape May to the Lobster House and ate out on the deck.  That is really nice and I know they enjoyed it.  They are back home  today and life is back to normal.

Thursday, we had new blinds installed on our front porch.

Of course it is so much cozier and gives us some privacy when we are sitting on the porch.

Christine from STRUGGLING WITH MY LIFE asked  the question, What Keeps you going?

What keeps me going?  Well, I guess my life has little turmoil.

I have a good husband.  He is 63, I am 64.  We were high School sweethearts, and how lucky can I be to still be together.   My worst years were when my mother was here.  We went thru some hard years when she was sick and before she passed away.  My mother was a very diffucult person to get along with and there was nothing I could do to make her happy.  My father  lived 13 years after she died and I have thought many times that they were the best 13 years of  his life.  Then it was rough at the end of  HIS life. We have nothing fancy.  A small red house.  We moved in here when we got married 41 years ago.  The money was tight when the kids were home.  But now they are both married and have families of their own.  And they have their financial struggles, so we help when we can.  We added on to this little 2 bedroom years ago.  I think our 1 or 2 splurges are our 2 Suburbans.  I wanted a Suburban when we were young and could not afford it.  We bought the first one in 1988 and still have it.  Hubby drives that one and mine is a 2001 or 2002(somewhere in there).  And I don't care how high gas goes,  I will put my Suburban on blocks if I have to but I will not go to a litle car, (I don't like little cars.!)

This is the old one.
When we bought this one, We thought life couldn't get any better.  We had made it. LOL

We bought this one  in 2002.  We live in a good neighborhood.  We were the kids when we moved here.  Most of the neighbors were in  their thirties back then, and now they are 70-75.  We are all still here except one.  So we have become close.  So I guess thats what keeps me going.  Life is GOOD!

  1. I love your porch and the blinds look great.  You are luckier than most Marlene...to still be married to your high school sweetheart.  And you raised 2 kids that are out on their own.  You own a home of your own (I hated giving mine up) and a couple of great GM vehicles (American made).  Sounds like a great life to me.

  4. I'm glad I stopped by and read this entry, it was a nice read.  So neat that you and hubby were high school sweethearts.  You've got a nice life.

  5. Oh I am with you! I can't stand to be in a little car. Ian has a tiny car to go back and forth to work in. It scares me to ride and drive it, its so low to the ground, I feel like I am going to get run over on an interstate! Your porch is just so inviting looking, and the blinds look wonderful! Your choice of places to eat sound deliciously inviting! I joke about it, but one day when Ian and I retire to be dried up raisin people on the beach in Florida we are gonna eat seafood every day! ;) Hugs, Kelly
