Early morning darkness

Hello Nice People,

Look at this tree face. Isn't it the cutest. The Grandkids bought this for us and proudly presented it last night. Daughter said, "Mom. we ordered this before the Vick thing." Well yeh, but these two old folks are already committed to not watching Eagles Football as long as sick Vick is part of the team. It won't be easy. We look forward to Sundays in front of the TV watching Eagles football. But we will just have to move on. Maybe New York Giants.......nah, can't do that. I know, Dallas Cowboys......nope, never. Oh well, maybe we'll take a walk. Thats healthier anyway.

I am typing this at 5 AM. What happened? I just peeked outside and its STILL DARK OUT THERE!!! Oh no!!! You know what that means, days are getting shorter. The Summer is coming to an end. Tell me its not happening. It was just two weeks ago that I got up at 5 and sat in the back yard on the deck IN THE SUNSHINE!

Temps are still in the nineties, at least for another few days. We have Hurricane Bill out there in the Atlantic. He should cool things off by the weekend. Luckily, he is taking a turn North and should miss the coast by a few hundred miles. We will only get the rough surf.

Yesterday was a beautiful day and perfect for the Atlantic City Air Show. Favorite relatives and friends Bunk and Joyce stayed overnite so they could see the Airshow. I think they enjoyed it even though it was ungodly hot on the beach and soooo crowded.

Well, I am off to get a few things done around here. Everyone have a good day and stay cool.

Life is good!

Atlantic City Airshow

Hello Nice People, Today is the Atlantic City Airshow in AC. We have family visiting here to see the show. 1 million people are expected to watch from the beach and boardwalk. I hope they have enough bathrooms LOL. I have seen it in the past and it is amazing. Everything is done over the ocean. I'll be back with some good reports.

Life is good.

I will miss football

I have watched my last Eagles game. Philadelphia signed Michael Vick. They are sick. As sick as he is. Follow the money. I knew someone would sign him. But not this soon. I am watching the 11 PM news. I am so upset. They are saying he is humble. He has paid his dues.
He can never pay enough dues. What he did was not a lapse in judgement. He hung dogs. he shot dogs. He made hundreds of thousands of dollars, maybe millions fighting dogs. I will never watch another Eagles Game.

Pumpkin Vines Have Feet!!!!

Hello Nice People,

Who knew that you shouldn't plant a pumpkin seed in the flower bed in the front yard. This is a vine from ONE seed. It has traveled clear around the side of the house and even tried to attach itself to the chimney and head up, up, up. I never knew that a pumpkin vine had these little stickly feet that holds onto everything even the ground.

But it does look pretty. If the squirrels would leave it alone, we will have pumpkins in the front yard by September.

We have had way too much rain here at the Jersey Shore this Summer. We had such a deluge yesterday I thought I was getting water inside of the Suburban on the way home. It was one of those times when you start through a little water on top of the road and all of a sudden your in water almost to the floor boards.

We have been working hard in this house. Trying to get things done before its time to go back to work on September 3rd.

Here's the back bedroom. This room had dark paneling for years. Hubby painted a nice soft green. I wanted that Shabby Chic look. I don't know what I would do without Hubby. This is my sitting room. I have my TV and my laptop in here. My make up vanity, and check out the neato tower with the baskets. That houses all my "stuff." Hair dryer, curling iron, hair sprays etc. Everything that has been stored on the floor for many years, now has a place.
Well, its time for an Eagles pre season game. I think I will go and watch. Life is good.

IT'S THREE O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE (Thats a song isn't it?)

Hello Nice People,

Yawn, yawn, it's 3 AM! What am I doing up? If I wake up in the middle of the night, I can lay there for 10 minutes....thats it, and I have to get up. The old brained starts to race.....hmmmm, wonder whats happening outside. May as well get up and peek out the blinds. Not much out there. The cats are asleep on the deck in the chair. Its still dark out. Wonder when the paper will get here. I may as well stay up. Wonder whats happening in the world. Turn on the TV. CNN, Fox News....at least they are on all night. They are like an old friend, always there when you need them. Does this make any sense? Don't expect too much at 3 AM. Well, we have the two girls back from Korea. Finally something to knock Michael Jackson off the

news. I think they have milked that for all its worth.

Friends. Now Carole and Joan have shot back into my brain, so I will never get back to sleep. Friends. They come into your life and stay 30-40 years and then their life becomes part of yours. Including their problems

Joan, an old bus driver buddy. Joan retired 4 years ago. she's been widowed for 6 years. Now the doctor says they have found a mass on her liver. I know she is worried about it. The first thing you think of is cancer. She goes for a Nuclear MRI today. Carole, the bestest person in the world. Carole has had a falling out with her grown daughters and my heart is breaking. Carole, Melanie, Terry, just knock it off , big hug and lets get back to life as it was. Hmmm, 3:45, think I will have my morning coffee.
Here comes Hubby. I guess I woke him up heating up the tea pot. I am an Instant coffee drinker. Watch, he's going to say, "What are you doing up? What do you find
to do on that computer at 4:00 in the morning?
Three more weeks and I pick up my bus. Wonder what run I will get this year. When I left in June, on the way out the door, I told boss lady, Hey, I want something easy and short next year. I'll take care of you was her reply. I don't have to be concerned any more about making lots of hours. Leave that to the younger folks. And most of them need the money, like we did when we were young. I have had some long runs.....200 miles a day last year. I am getting to old to do it anymore.
Hubby is painting the back bedroom. That is my little retreat. I have my TV and my laptop and my recliner in there.
We took everytyhing out for him to paint. I have colleted more s----. What was I thinking? what am I going to do with all this stuff? Carole says have a yard sale, "Iwll help you." Hey,maybe Terry and Melanie will show up and you guys can sit down and talk. No Carole, you are too stubborn for that too happen. It's 5 o'clock. The local news starts any minute. Channel 6.....probably the same old stuff. An accident, overturned tractor and trailer on the Pennslyvania Turnpike. 4 shootings in Philadelphia. Some guy shot up a gym full of women cause he didm't have sex for 19 years. Poor baby...geez I wonder why!!!!
Coffee's getting cold. gonna watch the news and wait for the paper to come. Life is good!

Mother had a Maytag Wringer Washer

Hello Nice People

Geez, I hope Donna from JUST ME doesn't mind me stealing her thunder. She has a really good post today about old Maytag Washers. When I was a lttle one, maybe 1952, 1953. I would come home from school and lean over the kitchen table, watching my mother put clothes through the wringer. I was amazed that her fingers never got caught. She was so good at it, it was almost like watching a machine, never missing a beat. Sometimes the clothes would be too thick and it would make the white doo hickey on the end of the wringer snap up with a loud crack. I would jump at the sound of it, but without so much as a blink of an eye, she would push it back down and continue on. Well, one day, the old fingers were a little too slow, and I can still picture her hand quickly being devoured by the rollers. For some reason, the doo hickey did not snap up and mothers hand went in with the fingers bent. There she was, yelling, "Marlene, pull the plug." Me frantickly trying to follow the wire to where it meets the wall. And knowing that if I don't get this right, I am in BIG trouble. Three broken fingers were the result. From that day on, the fingers on her right hand were slightly bent at an odd angle, and only her and I knew the details of how they got that way. And thats my memory of a Maytag Wringer Washer.
