Way Back then

Mosie from My Country Life has some great pictures of her teenage years.  I guess we were all doing the same thing back in the 60's.  Well some of us anyway.  I Luv the picture with the Fabian album.  I was so into Fabian and Frankie Avalon and Bobby Darin.  My fav was Ricky Nelson.  1961, I was a sophomore in high school.  Atlantic City High School Isn't it funny how we lived with so little back then.  A bed, a bureau and a record player and we were happy.  I  never ate lunch in high school.  I would use that and any money I had, to go out in town to buy the latest rock and roll record.  The 45's were 69 cents.  I think I was so lucky growing up in Atlantic City.  The stars  appeared in person on Steel Pier.    Admission was one dollar for a stage show with a major headliner, two movies, a water circus etc.  what a bargain.  It was an all day entertainment.  And we loved it!!!

  1. Great memories.  We are so close in age that your memories are mine as well.  Of course it wasn't Atlantic City, but Ft. Lauderdale (Where the Boys Are) wasn't bad either...lol.  Thanks for sharing.

  2. What a lucky girl you were! All those guys were my favorites, too, but let's not forget Elvis who was top of my list and pics all over the 4 walls of my bedroom. I could have seen him in Vegas but stayed in the hotel room with 4 kids while hubby went. I graduated in 1960. Love the pics.......alice

  3. I did the same thing with my lunch money!  I loved Rickey Nelson too.  In fact, I still love listening to his songs, and I have a bunch of them on my computer.  My and my mom once met the airplane that brought Pat Boone to Kansas City, and there was a picture on the front page of the KC star where you could see both of us up front, reaching out toward Pat.  LOL, I think my mom was living her second childhood through me.
